Job Title: Solutions Engineer

Renumeration: Dependent upon experience (£20,000 - £50,000)

Role:
Much of Garland Technology’s success can be attributed to the involvement of the Solutions Engineering - or SE - Team. As a Garland SE you will provide pre-sales support and be involved together with our business and technology partners in sales deals from the start through to close. You’ll act as a technical expert, educating and assisting our business partners.
This role will be home-based and involve regular European travel and occasional trips to the Middle East, Africa and the USA.
The ideal candidate will:
- have a good understanding of Networking principles and products
- grasp the role of common network security, monitoring, and performance tools
- be keen to expand their knowledge of networking and security
- enjoy delivering presentations & demonstrations
- want to be the go-to resource on the team for technical questions
- enjoy working together with business partners across EMEA
Responsibilities:
- Pre-Sales technical support for partners and customers to determine business requirements, recommend network designs, deliver POC’s & solutions, and answer technical questions.
- Determine all technical requirements necessary to achieve successful closure of the sales process.
- Convey unique differentiators of Garland Technology’s solutions to prospects, partners, and customers.
- Conduct collaborative whiteboard design sessions and produce solution diagrams using Visio.
- Translate designs into a bill of materials that can be quoted during the sales process.
- Assist with exploratory calls for prospects, partners, and customers.
- Conduct product presentations & demonstrations to explain features, functions, and configurations of Garland’s products.
- Collaborate with partners to develop compelling use cases for specific sales opportunities.
- Engage and train channel partners to enable greater understanding and better delivery of Garland’s solutions.
- Work with tech partners to validate joint solutions and establish Garland as the ideal Network TAP, Network Packet Broker, and Inline Bypass solution partner for future business opportunities.
- Attend trade shows and represent Garland Technology.
- Collaborate with Garland’s marketing team on technical documentation, training materials, and presentations.
- Contributing author of technical and industry related topics for blogs, social media, technical forums, and white papers.
- Technical phone / email support and troubleshooting assistance as needed
- Up to 65% travel in EMEA.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, & Qualifications:
- Garland Technology will consider a graduate or post apprenticeship person whom satisfy the following criteria:
- Must have:
- A good understanding of Networking principles and products
- Good understanding of Layers 2-4 networking data standards and popular Layer 7 protocols
- A solid grasp on the role and function of common network security, monitoring, and performance tools
- Be keen to expand their knowledge of networking and security
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent communication & Interpersonal skills
- Results oriented attitude
- Have a current driving license and passport
- Capability to collaborate effectively by giving and receiving feedback
- Team player with ability to complete projects under pressure
- Preferred:
- Cisco or equivalent certifications preferred, such as CCT Routing & Switching, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, or CCIE Security
- 3+ years’ experience in IT networking, security and administration
- Hands-on experience configuring Routing and Switching equipment
- Experience with multiple network connectivity standards, including copper and fibre
- Know-how in Network Design and Network Infrastructure Design
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience designing or implementing LAN and WAN topologies
- Familiarity with Network Packet Broker solutions
- Proficiency in Visio
- Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker) and virtualization platforms and designs preferred
